I believe the Jan 26 review of The London NYC hotel by "foresight" is a fake and was planted by the hotel.

When you (the hotel) use TA in this way to advertise your property it is sometimes so obvious that it leaves a negative impression.

I was considering the London for my next trip to NY----now not so sure.

How do you know it is a fake?

It really says something about a hotel/or any business, that has to make up their own reviews in order to get a good one.

It's the first review here

tripadvisor.com/ShowUserReviews-g60763-d6304…

and I agree with travelingGuy, by the way it's written and the language used, it definitely sounds like a "plant." That said, the previous reviews are pretty glowing so I wonder why they'd do that.

Also "foresight" has no other posts, no forum contributions or any other material on Tripadvisor, that to me is a big red flag.

Here is the text:

Living in LA I first encountered the London NYC on a business trip to the city and found it to be the epitome of elegant simplicity. The suites offer a distinct refinement from the comfortable and stylish beds to the wonderful Waterworks bath features. While all of this is tastefully complimented by dark hardwood floors and enhanced by the latest in plasma television technology. Yet, as a visitor to the London NYC the five star service and friendly staff has left the greatest impression, the trip became more of an experience because of the staffs’ thoughtful consideration and attention to detail. While the concierge service Quintessentially puts all of Manhattan at your fingertips, no matter how small the task. Still, the ideal location makes the hotel central to the hubbub of Manhattan excitement, just steps away from Carnegie Hall, the theatre district, Central Park, and Fifth Avenue shopping The London NYC seems to become the center of Manhattan. The superior service combined with the hotel’s modern elegance makes The London NYC a must for any travel plans to the city. I am already planning my next trip to New York and first on my list of things to do is check into The London NYC.

Tout probability = 100%

If this line wasn't written by a PR person I'll eat this post...

"While the concierge service Quintessentially puts all of Manhattan at your fingertips.."

Pass the barf bag please!

It has shill written all over it. TG did you contact TA with your concerns? Just wondering if they will remove it. My experience with TA in this regard has been very iffy. Sometimes they remove, sometimes they don't.

>>TG did you contact TA with your concerns?<<

No, how do I do that?

(By the way, if they want to advertise on Trip Advisor let 'em buy a banner!)

There are a few other posts by individuals besides foresight who joined just to review the London and have no other activity on TA.

I am not sure how you report an inappropriate review. On the forum site there is a link for reporting inappropriate posts to the forum, but Ihave never reported a review.

This is how I report shill postings:

Go to the very very bottom of the screen. Click on Terms of Use. Scroll down to the very bottom of that page and click online form.

The policy the shillpostings violate are contained in the paragraph entitled Use of chat rooms.... on that same page specifically D. and E. which prohibit the posting of:

"d. Content that impersonates any person or entity or otherwise misrepresents your affiliation with a person or entity;

e. Unsolicited promotions, political campaigning, advertising or solicitations;"

I agree that that is definitely PR speak (and only fair to middling PR speak at that).

Phony reviews, like this one from the London Hotel PR person, are always very broad and offer few specific details (other than to tout the names of things like the bathroom fixtures). And they use the type of cliche language that holders of PR degrees from second rate schools think is high class -- "the epitome of elegance," "quintessential," "attention to detail," and my favorite: the misuse of the verb "to complement." They always incorrectly use the verb "to compliment," which makes me think of the drapes telling the bedspread how great it looks or the stall shower thanking the Waterworks fixtures for being so zen-like.
