I haven't stayed there, but I have walked by several times. Bridgesuites is in an old, tenenment style brick building (or buildings) that looks lilke it has been renovated. It is 5 or 6 stories tall and, as the website says, a walkup, which means there is no elevator.

The building is at the corner of East 60th and First Avenue, with most of the exterior building frontage on the 60th street side, facing the 59th street bridge. There is a lot of noise from the approach to the bridge, not to mention heavy street traffic on First Avenue and 60th street, so my first question to management would be whether the windows are double glazed. The website mentions there is an interior courtyard, so you might consider asking for an apartment facing the courtyard if noise is an issue for you.

Some tourists might consider this location too far east for easy access to the attractions most people want to see in New York; but it is a good neighborhood, 2-3 long crosstown blocks from the subway stop at 59th/60th and Lex/Third. There are also uptown buses on First Avenue and downtown buses on Second Avenue.

The website says 30 day minimum stay. Do you know that? If you're staying for a month or more, I think you can do better than this place. When are you coming and what's your budget? What are you here to do?

Hi and thank you all for the answers.

I'll stay in NY for the whole month of August and I choose the place because of the neighborhood. My girlfriend, who is already there in NY, went the other day to see the place and she told me that it was quite old and not too clean. I don't really care about how old is the place, as long as it's clean and insects free!

Thank you for offer me other alternative solutions, but the thing is I already signed the lease with them a while ago, trusting the pictures on the website. I think is now too late to break it.

Thank you again for your time

ciao

Well, just in case it's not clean enough or insect-free enough for you, you can get everything you need at a nearby Bed, Bath & Beyond, at First Av. and 61st Street.

WallaPalla,

Hope you're still checking this forum. Just wanted to know how your experience with the 59th St suites was. Was it as bad as you thought it would be. How's the noise level. Do they have maid service (daily, weekly, not at all)? Do these places provide pots/pans/utinsils etcs? Are the gas/electiciy etc all included in theprice? Did they charge you any hidden fees?

I'm planning on spending a month in NY next spring and both 59th Street Suites and Chelsmore price-wise (my budget is $2000).

If anyone has stayed at these places, please feel free to chime in. Or any other recommendations would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Hello,

I had an excellent experience! The place was clean and quite comfortable. The noise was ok even though I had my window right on the street! They do not have a maid service, although you might ask for but I'm not sure. They do provide pots, pans, ect. Gas and electricity are included in the price (check the lease and you will see all the info in there). There are no hidden fees, except for the fact that you have to leave a deposit and they will send you a check a couple months later. The place is an excellent position and the area is very safe. I loved that place! I would definitely recommend this place!

Feel free to ask me more questions. I would try to answer you as soon as possible, and as soon as I have another chance to use a computer!!!

Ciao

Thanks for the helpful info WallaPalla.

I was looking through Expedia & Travelocity and I don't see the place listed. Did you book directly through the hotel?
