Visiting Roosevelt Island

I've read many positive reviews about this little gem but none that would give advice on how to spend one's day, ie: is it a day-long visit? places to eat/convenience stores? is there a time of day that is busier and more crowded than others? Hoping to make a trip there over Labor Day weekend. Thank you in advance!

Probably not a full day trip.

map and walking tour here: anatgerstein.com/wp-content/…202012.pdf

small # of restaurants, bringing a picnic from Manhattan is an option.

shuttle bus costs 25 cents (no metrocards)

You might want to continue on over the bridge to Socrates Sculpture Park and the Noguchi museum and then to the Museum of the Moving Image or 5 pointz and PS 1.

If you're going to roosevelt Island, take the Tram. It's an experience in itself.

Perfect for a half day trip.... if you are into HISTORY, download the podcasts from the Bowery Boys on the history of the island.... listen to it as you stroll.... take photos..... have lunch on the island and of course, take the tram at least ONE way on your trip.....

We posted photos from our visit to Roosevelt Island....

We combined it with hanging out in Grand Central Terminal for a while.. also listening to a podcast!
