What is the best Possibility?

We are looking for a hotel in Manhattan from the first of december to the 6th, but we are not able to find a available hotel (less than 220$ and acceptable, in Manhattan. So now We are searching outside Manhattan, and we have two possibilities: Long Island,( exactly La quinta inns, or something like that) and go to the other side (Washington Blvd- Jersey city or other place near Manhattan ). How are both neighborhoods, we are interesting to know, the security on the streets, the transport to Manhattan and all you can tell us. Is there other possibilities near Manhattan?

The Hyatt in Jersey City is right by a PATH train station (one way to Manhattan is $1.50). As to Long Island---depends on where. You would probably have to rely on the LIRR to get you into the city and that is more costly than using the subway. Plus, LIRR trains don't run very frequently at night. Some people have stayed in Seacaucus, NJ---there is a bus that takes you into NYC. Others have stayed at the Sheraton in Weehawken, NJ---there is a ferry that goes into Manhattan.

Lastly, have you considered trying to bid on a room using one of the discount websites? To help you get started --- www.betterbidding.com --or-- www.biddingfortravel.com

Long Island is not a good idea. Check the website

www.apartments2book.com and see what they have in Manhattan. Also check

If those don't work, the Grand Hyatt in Jersey City would be good.

One other thought is the Ramada Plaza near La Guardia airport. It's near the #7 subway. quikbook.com shows it at $260 for the first 3 nights and $210 for the last 2. You're coming at a very expensive time.

I would book one of the hotels if it's easily cancelleable and then perhaps try Priceline. I think you can use it from Spain. Look on betterbidding.com
