Vacation Rentals |
|
I'm currently looking at renting a vacation apartment for a 2 week stay in July for a dance comp/workshop for my daughters. The last one I looked into was a scam. This one is at 120 west 58th st between 6th and 7th. Does anyone have any info on this place? Does anyone know of any other vacation rentals near the venue of Sheraton Towers? We stayed 8 days last July at Sheraton Manhatten, so this year we're looking for something with more room, kitchen and a little more cost effective. Thank you |

Funny, I'm helping a friend look for a vacation rental and he too is considering something on 58th st. b/w 6th & 7th but I think his is a bit further west on the block. I found a photo of the building and it's a condo (which is good) condo-sales.com/search/buildingdetails.aspx… The biggest issue, as I'm sure you know, is from who are you renting. The location, apt., building etc. can be great, but the person you're dealing with may or may not be the owner etc. If it's thru a reputable firm, you should be fine. If it's from craigslist etc., there's always a risk. I do know one poster here stayed at this apt. on west 58th st. and liked it very much, but it's already booked for most of July. http://www.vrbo.com/30208#morephotos What size apt. are you looking for and what price? Have you contacted any agents?

I took a group of dancers to NYC last April and rented a 2 bedroom apartment at 120 West 58th through the company W57th corp http://www.west57.com/ We are returning this year to the same building but renting only a 1 bedroom. They have pictures of the units on their website. The apartment was clean and well furnished and the building was locked when the doorman was not at his desk. The only hassle is that you pick up the key from their office on 55th street, but it's only a short walk. My group of teenagers loved the apartment experience and I loved the extra room we had for a 6-day stay. It certainly was not a 4* hotel, but it was an economical option, especially with a full kitchen. Our two bedroom apartment also had a dining table, two sofas, and a full entertainment center.

How many beds/how big do you need? What are the dates?
|
Hey, I am looking into renting a 4 bed 3 bath on 120 w 58th street, but they are asking for $1500 deposit to be wired before we even get there! Is this a scam?? seems odd! Its also seems very cheep at £180 per night - for 4 beds!

Yikes. The usual recommendation is that you do not wire money to another account. And $1500 strikes me as an absurdly high deposit for a vacation apartment, but I could be wrong.

I agree, $1500 sounds far too high for a deposit - by comparison, I have an apartment booked through NY Habitat and the deposit (paid via credit card - much more secure!) for that was only about $300!

THIS IS A SCAM S T A Y A W A Y!!! We have notified the District Attorney, the police and the Attorney General!! This apt building is a condo, and DOES NOT RENT APTS!!!! Please contact me, I am a licensed real estate broker in the State of New York, and would be happy to help. These people are having clients wire money to a bank TCF in Chicago Ill..and when they arrive at 120 West 58th Street, there is NO APT!!! Please don't get caught in this terrible web. There are many places where you can rent reliable, legitimate apts, please use the normal methods, and ask for credited documents. These people are putting a black eye on those of us who are honest and kind, it is disgusting!! Monica Dalton monica@suites57.com
