I'm looking for a locals' recommended breakfast spot near Shelter Island, Point Loma or Ocean Beach. I'm staying at Humprey's and would like to find something that is within 10 minutes of the hotel. I'm not looking for a brunch buffet or fancy spread, just the typical all-American breakfast. Thanks in advance for your help.

About a block from Humphreys is the Red Sails Inn. Certainly nothing fancy or extraordinary, but it's fairly good, inexpensive and they have a nice patio area right on the water. If you're looking to wow someone, this isn't the place. That's what places like the Hash House are for, but, if you want quick, cheap and good, this would work.

The Kona Kai has a good menu with a great view of the marina...does not seem real fancy.
