WE had booked a SUV with Hertz and with a AAA discount that gives you one complimentary child seat the rate was $406 (this was including a $20 hertz website coupon for a weekly rental) Looking around with car seats the prices were $550- $800 for 8 days. We will have a double stroller and 3 large suitcases and carry on so we needed a vehicle with plenty of trunk space ie SUV or Minivan.

Priceline doesnt guarantee car seats so this is why we didnt chance them.

I had booked through HERTZ 3 mths ago and last night I had the time and thought I would call around to see if competitors had better prices now.Turns out Allamo has a special on and we were able to get a minivan with 2 car seats for $325. They also said to watch their website for a $25 coupon which 2009 will be updated soon.FANTASTIC prices..

I just wanted to see if anyone else was happy with them? I wanted to stick with a company I had heard of rather then a individually owned car rental company.

The rates with taxes for 8 days without car seats is $226 is this too good to be true???

Or are we seeing reduced prices due to the economy etc.

In my experience, Hertz is always more expensive than many of the other companies.

I have not used Alamo here in town but it is a major chain and so to me-same/same.

Riffsie... Really . I called 5 different companies and they were up to $800 for a minivan or standard Suv with 2 car seats.. Car seats are $100-$120 for two of them. When the children get older I will bring my own booster seats with me but the child seats are much larger/heavier.

I think you would be lucky to find even on Priceline 8 day minivan for $188..

thanks for your input..

Alamo as Riffs said is a major chain here so you should be OK with them. It pays to shop around. :o)

There are Alamo shuttle busses that go through the airport terminals about every 10 minutes to take you to the Alamo rental site.

When I said "same/same" I didn't mean price.

You asked about the company and I meant they were the same as all the other large car companies here in town.

Riffsmom I knew what you meant.

Alot of them are reputable as they are big chains. There was a post few mths back that had a review on some of the wait times to pick up their cars/customer service. I will go back and see if I can find it.
