Any nightlife in Tupelo?

We are headed to Oxford for the SC-Ole Miss game in Oct. Obviously, we can't stay in Oxford, as all rooms are sold out. Anywhere for guys in there 30s to spend some time out at night? Or any other suggestions on where to stay? We really don't want to go to Memphis, as we just went last year for our bowl game and its an extra hour out of our way.

Good question, I'd be interested to hear some replys to this one, There is the usual bars/eating place's quite a few at barns crossing near the mall and Cinema.

I'll be in town for 4 nights this summer so I look forward to any replies on this one

I don't know about nightlife in Tupelo, but you won't need it. The action is in Oxford. Just go from bar to bar on the square on the night before the game and make sure you have someone sober to get you back to Tupelo. On game day, all you'll need is the Grove. By the time you are done with that, all the "nightlife" you will need will be a bed.

You might also check VRBO.com to see if you can get a house in Oxford for the weekend. A lot of people in Oxford rent their houses out on game weekends.

Looks like you are a golfer. Ole Miss has a great golf course that is open to the public. Might be something for Friday.

We'll be waiting for you guys here in Lexington on October 11....

There's nightlife in Tupelo, just remember it all ends at midnight. For a pub, try the Stables, for a DJ/Urban nightclub, Bogart's, country music is JR's. For the 30-ish bunch, you should probably try Woody's or Boondocks.

Ends at midnight? Ummm....maybe we will look elsewhere to stay.

Eyewall, while I do look forward to the Grove and Oxford nightlife, we do not have a DD so that is why we were looking to party wherever we end up staying.

And by the way....don't worry we'll be in Lexington too. So be ready!!! J/K Lexington is one of my all time fav SEC road trips.

I went to law school at Ole Miss back in the 80's. At that time the bars in Oxvegas closed at 12:00 on Friday and 11:00 on Saturday. We went down for a UK/Ole Miss game in 2000, and I believe the closing hours had been changed to 1:00 a.m. When we went down there in 2000, we got on a waiting list at the Days Inn in Oxford and eventually got rooms. You have to pre-pay by check for those rooms, and some people don't do it. Rooms can open up. You may want to check that out. Otherwise, unless you are interested in the casinos in Tunica, Memphis may be your best bet.

I've heard you can start setting up in the grove at midnight on the night before the game. Do people stay there after that or do they just set up and come back in the morning? Reason I was asking, is we thought we might could just set up and hang out there all night napping in our lounge chairs, etc. You have any idea if this is an option?

When we last attended an Ole Miss game, I believe they would let you set up in the Grove anytime after 6:00 p.m. the night before the game. People can and do spend the night in the Grove. You can't park in the Grove (you used to be able to). There are places that are designated for drop off. You wait in line in your car, unload your stuff, and go park somewhere else. then you repeat the drill after the game. We have avoided this ritual in the past by getting there as early as possible on game day and parking on the periphery of the law school parking lot. You can't park in the lined spaces in that lot, as they are reserved, but you can parallel park around the edges of the lot. You will likely approach campus on University Avenue, which dead ends at the Grove. Make a right at he Grove, and the law school is the second building on the right.
