Planning a girls' weekend in July for my sister (a pre-wedding getaway with her friends, but NOT a typical "bachelorette" party) and I need some advice.

Looking for a nice, centrally located hotel that has (or is near) a good spa. This will be a group of six or eight "thirty-ish" women looking to relax and spend time together at the spa, enjoy a nice dinner and a few glasses of wine, and maybe do a little shopping.

Any ideas from you Boston experts?

Dunno about in Boston... but we did a similar thing for a friend in Stowe, VT and she loved it. Good luck.

hi annie,

back bay is the place you want to be for restaurants, bars, shopping on newbury street and day spas! most of boston's spas are located in Back Bay or the adjoining south end neighborhoods. so let's look at hotels in back bay. they are: jury's, the lenox, marriott copley place, the fairmount, the charlesmark, and hilton boston back bay.

try these spas in back bay: exhale day spa, bella sante, G spa Inc., and etante.

try this spa in the south end: Nami Spa

a nice place to grab dinner is the union bar and grille on washinton street in the south end or try having drinks at the bar at smith and wollensky's on the corner of arlington and columbus aves.

have fun.

I would recommend dinner at Smith and Worlensky as well not just drinks. Great food!

Also, if you want an old fashion type of thing to do, tea at the Ritz is always fun and nostalgic.

If shopping is your pleasure, a centrally located place is the Copley Place with many upscale shops all in one place as well as Newbury Street which has many shops and eateries.
