I never thought I would ever combine Boston and camping in the same sentence before, but with trying to economize and get a bit of the great outdoors to boot, I find a need a bit of advice on the topic.
We are a family of 4, 2 adult children, looking for a campground near Boston, within an hours' drive, that includes flush toilets, hot showers and wooded privacy (and not just a shade tree or two). We are tent/pop up camper kind of folks, so wouldn't need all of the amenities of an RV park. I am less concerned about the campsite cost, provided that it would include the above requisites.
I've been on a number of websites checking out both the state parks and the private campgrounds, but I find that there are few if any photos that detail the campsites at these campgrounds.
I am also hesitant to pursue the private campgrounds, as many of these are very family oriented, with lots of kids activities, which could mean less privacy and more noise. About 10 years ago this would've been exactly what I would be looking for, but as our family has grown, so too have our camping preferances.
We are not planning this trip until next summer, probably in the later part of June or July. My question comes at this time due to checking on other possible camping vacation locations, so I wanted to have a good idea of what my choices are to make an informed decision.
Thank you to all of the good folks at TA for any advice that you may provide. I always find that you send me to new directions and have much success based on your recommendations.
