National Park Closure impact at Harpers Ferry

Hi,

Has anyone visited this area since the National Parks have been closed due to the federal government shutdown? Is it still worth visiting?

Thanks,

Lynn

The historic buildings will be closed, but the town is small and cute. If you are a history buff, there are private interpreters available for hire.

It might be a little cold but there is rafting/tubing/zip line on the Shenandoah just up the road. (I believe they are still floating.)

Hollywood Casino at Charles Town Races is close by. Very nice place to gamble/eat. If the horses are running it’s worth a visit even if you don’t gamble. You can get 20 feet away from the horses as the pass the finish line. You can feel the hoof beats as they pass. Gambling so must be over 21.

Foliage will be very nice for WV.

Good Luck!
