A's game

Hello,

I'll be in San Francisco in early April and would like to see a ballgame ( even though cricket is my bat and ball game of choice ). A's are playing and we would be going to a night game. We'll be staying in Lombard St and closest BART station is Powell St. Is it relatively safe coming back late at night or is a cab a better option ?

Thanks

Yes it's very safe. The stadium is connected via a walk way to the BART station, you don't even go on the streets. You'll be riding with many fans.

Al Tippet has an insiders view of the A's venue and game in the top question on the right side. Do have a look and there is a link there that explains the game..

Someone asked about the Ashes a day or so ago and I found out that OZ is beating the Empire in the first game. I presume the empire cannot strike back !!! Or if they do, instead of tea. We can help you with a tea party... A 5 day game . Really . Do people go every day for 5 whole days or are there sessions or innings one can go to ?

Mercifully Baseball goes on for about 3 hours on an average and we did go to an A's game that went on for about 5-6 hours this year but that is all we could bear

Oh yes it is fine to take BART back and then you could take the 30 Stockton or a cab depending on now you feel

Thanks. I read the topic on the baseball and it was very informative. In regards to the cricket most people don't go for all 5 days but some tragics do :) Also each day goes for 7 hours and after 5 days you might not get a winner - strange hey. Some of the highest paid sportsmen in the world are cricketers. In India it is close to a religion.

Can't wait to get to the baseball. We're also going to the hockey in NY and the basketball in Miami so we'll have our fill of sport !

American football both at the NFL level but more so at the college level is religion in the US as well specially in the Midwest and the South. Our baseball and basketball player salaries may total the GDP of a small countries - well almost ..

Hockey has its fans but our neighbors to the north Canada think that sport is religion

<<We'll be staying in Lombard St and closest BART station is Powell St.>>

Do you plan to take the bus from Lombard Street to BART?

If so, then take the 30-Stockton which runs on Chestnut -- one block north of Lombard. On the way, get off at 4th & Market and walk to Powell St. BART. However, on the way back it will be closer to get off at Montgomery and walk to 3rd Street to catch the inbound 30. And be sure to get a 30-Stockton with destination either "Broderick" or "Jefferson Loop." Do NOT board a "Van Ness" bus as it won't take you far enough.

If you want to get a cab to BART then the Embarcadero station is the best to use on the way back as cabs are easiest to find in that area.
