 Honeymoon

Hi there, Wonder if anyone can help us. We are travelling from Ireland to West Coast of US for our honeymoon. We have not been to the West Coast before. We have about 2.5 weeks to travel and we were going to fly into San Fran first but now we would like to rest first for a few days (as we will probably be pretty tired after the whole wedding thing!!) somewhere beautiful and by the sea. Not a city as there would be so much to do and it would not be restful. Our last stop will be NY for 2 or 3 nights before we return to Dublin. We would love to see San Diego, San fran, vegas (maybe?) any other help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated..we plan to book it on saturday..

thanks..

If I understood correctly, that you don't wish to start out in San Francisco as a city, you may try Carmel/Monterey. Carmel is very pretty and it is quiet. The Monterey Plaza Hotel is right on the water front. My fiance and I have stayed there and enjoyed it quite a bit. They also have a great spa. It sounds like the kind of place you're looking for.

I hope that helps and I hope I understood what you were after!

Or perhaps you'd like to get a bit more rustic, such as Manka's Lodge in Inverness (yeah, I know, sounds familiar -- sometimes we're not very imaginative with our place names), Marin County, up by the Point Reyes Peninsula.

Yes you took me up correctly!! Not sure if I explained myself too well!

Thank you so much for your help. We have heard carmel is beautiful so it looks like this is the place to start at. We hope to relax for a few days and then rent a car and visit the cities and see where the road takes us! I will certainly have a look at the places you suggested..

thanks again

If you would like suggestions for lodging, places to see, eat, etc. I would love to help you fine-tune your Carmel time on the Carmel forums! You've made a great decision to visit this gorgeous area. Carmel/Montery/Pacific Grove are all close to one another, so you can visit this entire area without having to go too far out of your way. Have a great trip! :)

My vote is definitely for Pt. Reyes area and Betterthanbings recommendation of Manka's Inverness Lodge. It is beautiful in a rusticly elegant way and the area is much more romantic, restful, and far removed than Carmel and Monterey which are always crowded. Google Manka's and check them out.
