Shuttle bus or taxi

Dropping hire car at San Francisco airport 7pm and there will be 3 adults plus luggage. Heading into Union Square, cost and convenience wise, shuttle bus or cab?

For 3 people, taxi is only marginally more than shuttle.... taxi will be around $45-50 total, shuttle around $16 per person. BART (public transit, light rail) will be $8.25 per person, just to let you know.

Anything but a shuttle unless you want to spend 30-60 minutes wandering the streets of San Francisco crammed in a van.

So to get to SFO at 7pm implies you are driving in from Yosemite or Monterey Or Santa Cruz. In any case unless this is a weekend there will be traffic in that area so if you can make it early say before 4.30 pm that would be best or after 7 but if that would imply just hanging out somewhere for no reason at all, I would say, just go with the flow, use 280 to get closer to the airport and 380 to get to the airport if coming in from the South. It is not gridlock but it is stop and go in places that is all.

Will be coming in from the south, as we are driving the coast from LA. Have to drop hire car at airport, so figuring with stops along the way, will not get there much earlier than 7pm. It will be a week day, so can't really avoid it.
