I'd expect to be crammed in like a herring in regular economy on any airline.
look at seatguru for comments on seating an any airline
Try not to sit anywhere close to the bathrooms.
At least you can watch your own movies at your seats. You can fit 4 movies in the flight! And the flight attendants are usually quite cheery.
Use their eye shades and use some earplugs and you might sleep a little.
I flew LHR to SFO with Virgin on the 16th. My best recommendation is to try and get a window seat. Depending on your route and the weather you'll get some pretty great views. Also, the left hand side of the plane got a good view of the Golden Gate Bridge as we came in for landing.
I flew on a 747 (not sure if that route is always served by a 747) and was in the bubble which was nice as it was less busy, so try and get up there if you can.
Thanks for advice, did you select your seat 90 days before or at checkin
Select your seat as soon as you can
I originally selected a seat when I booked (about 40 days before I flew) but during check in seats in the bubble opened up so I changed to one there instead.
I'd recommend selecting one as soon as you can.
