We tried to book the Prescott today for our trip in August and it was booked already. Only the penthouse room is available for $599 a night. We stayed at the Handlery once before and had no complaints but the Prescott was coming in quite a bit cheaper. Can anyone recommend any other Union Square hotels, comparable to the Prescott? Thanks!
That is a hard one to answer. We would have to look at all the hotels in the Union Square area and more importantly look at their rates to compare.
Not knowing what you are looking for, you may want to look at the Donatello, the various other Kimpton and jdv hotels, the Nikko, the Parc 55, or at the larger chains Marriotts and Westins and Hyatts. There is the Orchard Garden hotel to look at as well. Hope that helps
We would like a breakfast included and really close to Union Square.
You shouldn't make breakfast a deal breaker as it isn't that common in SF hotels.
belo mentioned JDV and Kimptons which is a good place to start. Also, check the Adagio, Warwick, Orchard, Chancellor.
Frankly, I'd go to TA, Expedia or Travelocity and plug in your dates and Union Square and see what comes up as available.
Have you tried the Chancellor.

Check The Abri, The Orchard, The Galleria Park and The Carlton, you may find a good special rate on your dates.
Err....the Carlton is not in the Union Square area, but quite a few blocks away out near Van Ness Avenue. Not a comparison to the Prescott's location.
