LDN - TA is for people to express their opinions and experiences. I posted mine. No one has to have the same experience as I had. Post your own experience and let it stand on its own. My beef is here in TA when people remark how one experience can't possibly be true because they didn't have that experience. Hey there are different experiences.
BTW - Let's acknowledge that we have entirely different tastes in lodging and let that account for our different expereinces. LLS is just not my preferred lodging style.
I totally agree. About our lodging tastes and about your beef. It's as frustrating to be on the other side of the debate. Please remember that.
On a side note, and this is meant playfully... why did you ever stay at the Lighthouse Lodge if it's entirely different to your taste?
Perhaps suzie DIDN'T know what to expect UNTIL she actually stayed there. We all book rooms and hope for the best, but sometimes the expectation doesn't pan out. suzie isn't alone in her opinion on the LLS, so just accept her opinion while maintaining your own.
I enjoy a good Victorian B&B experience, but some would think my fave place is old, musty and in need of updating.
Actually yes I stayed one night. I based my choice of the LLS upon the pics and reviews they had on their web site at the time. I personally didn't think the pics were accurate to the room we had. It was too expensive for the accomodations.
No need to shout! I said I was playing! :)
Without knowing your budget, here are some moderate hotels and inns.
In Monterey I'd look at The Monterey Inn, Green Gables Inn, Seven Gables Inn, La Playa Hotel, Best Western Plus Beach Resort and The Clement Monterey for something upscale.
In Cambria, The Blue Dolphin, Best Western Plus Fireside Inn and The FogCatcher Inn.
As an alternative to Cambria you have Pismo Beach and these hotels, SeaCrest OceanFront Hotel, Best Western Plus Shore Cliff Lodge and the Cliffs Resort.
In Santa Barbara look at the Franciscan Inn, Castillo Inn, Marina Beach Moteland Mason Beach Inn and the Fess Parker Doubletree for a bit more upscale.
Thanks everyone for your info'.
We have decided to stay at Monterey, possibly two nights but that is still up for debate.
Mrs D likes the look of Morro Bay, any thoughts?
As for hotel budget, max £200 pn
Maybe it's just me, but I'd prefer Cambria or Pismo Beach over Morro Bay.
Places in Morro Bay that are okay are the Embarcadero Inn, Estero Inn and the Inn at Morro Bay.
Morro Bay is okay, but I'm with scottca075 on this one..... Cambria is preferable to Morro Bay. I think the power station smoke stacks kind of detract from Morro Bay's scenery.
