We are coming to San Francisco in March and will be staying at the Wyndham Canterbury(750 Sutter St.). We will be out exploring during the day, but would like to find restaurants nearby for breakfast and dinner. Any suggestions will be welcome.
Cafe Claude (also lunch) and Gitane in Claude Lane, just off Sutter, are excellent dinner choices. Near Bush and Powell, Uncle Vito's and Jeanne d'Arc in the Hotel Cornell de France are two of our favorites. Along Union Square, Sears Fine Food (famous for silver dollar pancakes) is a SF breakfast institution, Bourbon Steak and the Oak Room (B, L, D) at the Westin St. Francis, and at Macy's there's Hubert Keller's gourmet Burger Bar, Cheesecake Factory and the food court which includes Wolfgang Puck and Rick Bayless enterprises.
There are lots more within 2-3 blocks of your hotel, but these are just a few that immediately spring to mind,

This is one we like very much and we eat there often when in the city. It is about a block from your hotel Fino..a northern Italian restaurant at 624 Post. (adjacent to the Andrews Hotel.)
We are not fond of Sears for breakfast since there is often a line. Fame has spoiled it <grin>. We do like Luques in the Chancellor Hotel, which is just two doors from Sears....this is 2-1/2 blocks from your hotel at 433 Powell.

Near Cafe Claude is Belden Alley off Bush just beyond Kearney) which is lined with a variety of restaurants. www.belden-place.com
Good option for Sear's is to walk in and ask if there is counter seating available. There usually is.
