 Trader Vic's

Trader Vic's in Dallas was our favorite restaurant when we were dating in Dallas 35 years ago! In fact, my husband gave me my engagement ring in the courtyard. It has been closed for several years.

I know there is a Trader Vic's in San Francisco, and we are going to spend our anniversary there in 3 weeks. Is this a good choice for our anniversary dinner? Can't find anything about it.

If you're going for sentimantal reasons, I say go for it. If you're ging for great food, I'd say try somewhere else. But if you've been there before, you know what to expect.

There's also another one with a nice view on the water in Emeryville (just across the Bay Bridge). The one in SF is near the Civic Center, and I haven't been into it.

I'm sure that your special event will overshadow any shortcomings. Congrats!

Trader Vic's in Dallas is due to reopen sometime in the next three weeks. It's going to be Da Bomb. It's really been hyped up so if you two want to really go down memory lane you might want to check it out.

I regret to inform you that Victor Bergeron's Trader Vic's ain't no mo'. It is now Le Colonial serving vastly over-priced Viet-Namese food. At 19:30 on Thursdays, a small band plays for dancing on their tiny, and extremely crowded, floor.

There is a new Trader Vic's, however, to which I've not been but, regardless of what it is, the real thing it ain't!

Ate at the "new" Trader Vic's about a year ago. The food was average at best, and for the prices they charge I would definitely not return.

I just ate at Trader Vic's in Dallas with my wife on Saturday night March 10th and had marvolus time. The place is reopened up and was basically borded up and for 20 years and nothing was touched. Basically they just spit shined and perfected what was there, dusted it off moved in some new items and re-opened. I think I ate here back in 1984 when I stayed at the hotel during a camp at SMU because some of the furnishings like the bathroom doors I seem to remember. But WOW, it's impressive now, NICE, NICE job of service and great drinks. Food, so, so. Some strong, some needs work, but they have only been open two weeks so lets give them time. This is sure to be a new Dallas classic. You should return if just to check out your old haunt. I'd bet it's better than even then.

TRADER VIC'S DALLAS....

Took 6 people there for my daughter's birthday. I have eaten there years ago. My wife and I just ate at Trader Vic's in San Francisco in January. The Dallas location reminds me of the old San Francisco place. The Dallas locations has been open only a few weeks and the service staff and food seem to be up to speed. In fact, we had a perfect evening. Trader Vic's is a well known brand known for their specialty drinks and food. We go there for fun, drinks and food. The Dallas locations sems to be off to a fine start. Mr .Russell Fenton ( the Big Kahuna) is very much hand-on and runs a tight ship. Trader Vic's is not to be helf to a 5 star Michlelin. i bet you will have more "fun" at Trader Vc's than a 5 star Michlein restaurent. Start with the appitizers that where the fun begins. We will return with friends.

There are several Trader Vic locations in San Francisco area.

My favorite is actually in the Palo Alto area....pretty restaurant, worthy of an anniversary meal. Having appetizers and drinks at the bar is also a fine way to go. its newer and the decor is quite nice.

I don't know if you have a car, but did want to mention that this one seems to have its act together.

"Expert" mini said her favorite restaurant named "Trader Vic's" is in Palo Alto. Be mindful that to dine there requires a trip of at least eighty miles!

- its a fairly easy drive and did want to mention it.

Of course, the one in San Francisco is closer and if it works for you, that's awesome.

I did want to mention that the Trader's Vics in Palo Alto is good...

and its worthy of an anniversary.
