Any recommended stops along the driving route from Quebec City to Bar Harbor for lunch/dinner/wine tasting/scenic lookouts?
If you're coming south on US Rt 201 once you get into Maine (probably the most logical route from Quebec City to Bar Harbor), you'll be traveling the "Old Canada Road Scenic Byway", part of the National Scenic Byway System. Have never really counted them, but there are probably two or three clearly-marked scenic turnouts between the Maine-Quebec border and Skowhegan.... although they may or may not be plowed if you're coming through in the wintertime (you didn't say when you were coming). One of the features of many scenic byways is a notable lack of commercial development along the route.... US 201 from the Quebec border to Skowhegan fits that definition. There will be places you can get lunch or dinner along the way, but your options will definitely be limited..... just are not a lot of restaurants in that part of Maine. Best bets will probably be in Jackman or Bingham (two biggest towns on the northern part of your route; both less than 1,000 population).... or, depending on your timing, wait until you get to/beyond Skowhegan for more options.
