I've been here for two weeks and i'd like to know where it is possible to surf on the island.

Since surfers are known to be territorial, is it okay for a non-local to surf without getting harassed?

How big do the waves get and where are the popular spots, if any.

And finally, where can i rent or buy a board (preferably used, my budget is limited at the moment).

Hmmm... you're right, surfers are pretty territorial. I'm thinking the Agana Boat Basin is your best bet, but what I suggest is making friends with a few of the guys at surf shops... Primo Surf or Lotus Surf shop. Then they could suggest some good spots or even bring you along to their secret spots. It's all about making friends around here.

Thanks Faye. Not knowing much about tradition or rules on socializing with a new crowd, what does it take to get to know or what's the best approach (without unknowingly offending anybody), I pretty much like to tell jokes or politics, but not knowing the "flow" might indirectly insult someone.

Finally, is there surf at all during the summer?

Hmmm... not too sure about the surf, but as with most places, winter would be the best time, I'm guessing.

As for making friends, as long as you're genuine without coming on too strong, people are generally welcoming :) Just go to the surf shops I mentioned and casually strike up a conversation with the guy behind the counter. I'm sure the same guys have some decent used boards for you too.

If you don't mind, are you here for an extended vacation? Relocating?
