Is this a good idea? Getting married at waimanalo beach in the morning, say, 9am, in October? Will the sky and sea be blue enough to make good photos? I am not sure about weather in Oct. Is it common to have a lot of rains in the morning? Just start to plan my wedding. Tons of questions. Thanks.

My husband and I got married on Makapuu beach in May a few years ago!! We went thru http://www.wedhawaii.com/ and they did an amazing job!!! It was just the 2 of us but we still dressed up! I wore a very simple strapless wedding dress and I actually found wedding sandles! They were basically just fancy flip flops with decorations on top. Our ceremony was around 1 in the afternoon which was perfect. It was a little breezy but turned out to be fine. They also made a wonderful video for us with music in the background. It just shows us walking together on the beach, kissing, laughing, etc. Everything was just perfect and I wouldn't change a thing about it! Please let me know if you have any questions or if you would like me to email you a few pics!!

Good luck and congrats! : )

Thank you for your sharing and useful information. I will check that website. I am not sure if we should dress up. I can't imagine men wear tuxedo with sandels. Yeah, it will be great if you can send pics to me. Thanks.

Have to agree with Wendy above. My daughter got married on Makapuu beach by the same company. It could not have been more perfect. She got married at 10 am. The photos and video are gorgeous. I will also email you some pics if you like so you can see just how beautiful the site is.

mmcaniac -- Hey that's really neat! Seriously, aren't the pics and video great! Hey do you remember if in the video they play the song "True Companion" by Mark Cohen? That's the song on our video and I cry every time I watch it!!

I thought there prices were very reasonable too. They also sent a limo to pick us up at our hotel and then on the way home they had champagne in the limo for us!!!

Liloli... I promise you won't be sorry if you use the same company!

liloli,

I will be there next week and will make a mental note to see what the beach looks like that time of morning and will post a new reply for you when I get back.

liloli,

October is generally a good time of year. Good chance (knock on wood) that you will have no weather issues at all. The photos should be fantastic. Some clouds over the mountains tend to make photos even more dramatic on that side of the island.

That side of the island tends to have more clouds in general, as I'm sure you know, but the morning is often better over there than the afternoon. Perhaps an hour later might be safer, like 10:00, if it's looking cloudy when you're here. The local kids don't really start arriving till closer to noon, so mid-morning sounds like the best combo of good weather & uncrowded.

You'll also be close to the sunnier side of the island, near Sandy Beach, or if necessary, heading to a beach park in Aina Haina or even Kahala. Those are from 10 minutes to 30 minutes away, and Kahala/Diamond Head is often sunny when the east/windward-heading directions aren't.

c.ford,

Thanks for your weather suggestions! It is very useful! Is there good chance to see sunrise in October?

liloli

Let me start with WOW. This is truly paradise. The past two mornings my wife and I have been the only two people on the Waimanalo Beach for sunrise and only half a dozen or so other beachgoers by 10 am. It is beautiful and takes great pictures rain or shine morning or evening. I highly recommend it.

Sad I have to leave in a few weeks it is perfect. By the way the part of the Waimanalo Beach I love the most is at the end of Hilu street between the two Beach park entrances. I also recommend www.lovehawaii.com Rev. Jerry married us earlier today it was perfect. I also highly recommend renting a vacation rental on te Windward side, it is wonderful.

Hi Topekamike. Congratulations on your wedding. After reading your post I am so excited that we have also chosen Waimanalo for our wedding. We haven't set an exact time yet so would appreciate your opinions on a 2:30 wedding i.e. what is the heat and crowds like at that time ?
