West Maui Restaurants

We will be visiting Maui soon, and were wondering what you recommend for some restaurants in West Maui. Interested in finding both some casual restaurants as well as more romantic spots. Just curious if there are some spots you would recommend that you may not typically hear about in Maui Guide Books. Thank you!

If you happen to be in Wailea please enjoy the Seared Ahi and the very helpful service at Pita Paradise! Pastas are good, too.if you want to see belly dancers then come here.

Wailea is not in west maui but just in case you do go there the Shops of Wailea is awesome. In Kaanapali please visit Whalers Village and Front Street they literally have restaurants lined up in a row esp. Front St. Lahaina Cannery Mall has a limited amount of eateries but feel free to walk across the street to stop at Aloha Mixed Plate and Old Lahaina Luau. By the smokestack there is Maui Grown Coffee. Wonderful and relaxing! There is also Maui Brewing Co.( popular beer) and then Outback Steakhouse. Enjoy eating out as much as I do!

"Cheap Restaurant" is a relative term in Maui :-)

Some of our favorite 'inexpensive' places:

Star Noodle - Up above Lahaina

Maala Tavern - North end of Lahaina

Barefoot Bar (happy hour) - Whaler's Village

Lelani's - Whaler's village - Taco Tuesday and happy hour deals

Da Kitchen - Lihuie

Ono Gelatto - Really good gelatto

Food trucks - Don't be afraid to try some of the food trucks you may find at the beaches. Most are very good and reasonably priced

Nice (more expensive) Restaurants

IO's - 505 Front Street Lahaina

Pacifico's - 505 Front Street Lahaina

Kimo's - Lahaina - More for the view than the food. Shoot for a sunset dinner

Capische - Wailea - Expensive, but worth it

Mama's Fishouse - Great food, killer views, not cheap

Places that get recommended but we think are better avoided

Roy's - Overpriced

Longhi's - Used to be good, but have lost several steps

Buzz's Warf - Gone downhill. If you wind up here, order the prawns ONLY

Places we haven't tried that are on our list for this November

Fleetwood's

Coconuts

rscotty, you're right, inexpensive is relative, BUT...

To which restaurant are you comparing Mala as inexpensive? Many of the entrees rank almost up with Mama's Fish House in price, around $40. It's a great casual restaurant, just can't call it inexpensive.

Check the menu http://malaoceantavern.com/menus.html

@intheraw - sounds like you are a concierge practicing your skills? Thanks for the input.

We usually go to Mala for lunch - A much more reasonable meal there.
