feast at lele is geared more toward adults. it is not a buffet like the old lahaina luau. the fal is a smaller show...but still fantastic.

for us...it's the feast at lele, hands down. we did enjoy the old lahaina....but much prefered the feast.

Billy has nailed it! Both are very good, the two best on the island IMO. The food is better at the Feast...

Feast at Lele has better food. Old Lahaina Luau has more authentic Hawaiian entertainment and overall experience. Both are very good, so it depends on your preference -- food or Hawaiian experience.

We much preferred the FAL because we enjoyed our won table service and while the food was, yes.......eclectic......it was also quite good and there were only two dishes we didn't want to really try. It was a romantic, gorgeous evening. Old Lahaina Luau is also wonderful but we just enjoyed having our own table for our small group and service, not buffet. You really cannot go wrong with either one you choose. Deb

But whichever you decide, book early to get the BEST table! You could actually phone them, give them your dates, and they can tell you which night will get you the better view. The seats are reserved, so no need to line up an hour before the show, or pay extra for the front row tables.

The way I describe the two, is like this:

OLL is the best version of a traditional luau. There are displays and activities to enjoy before the show starts, including the traditional underground imu "oven" and ceremony. The tables are shared, but only 8 people per, so it's still a more intimate setting than the luaus you've seen on TV, with giant tables. The food is traditional, but very good, and served buffet style, but they do a good job of managing it, so you're not spending much time standing in line. The show is completely devoid of the cheesy "AAAALLLOOOOHHHHAAA" style entertainment, but is instead focused on traditional story telling. The dancing is spectacular. If you want a traditional luau, this is the one to do, hands down.

FAL, as mentioned, is more of dinner theatre. You have your own table, and table service and the servers are excellent. Glasses were never empty and any allergy concerns were treated carefully and respectfully. While the dancing was not as extensive as at OLL, you have the opportunity to sit very close (book early!) and the range of Polynesian styles is fun. The food, in my opinion, really stands out. Three dishes, matched to each of the islands you "visit".

We went to OLL once and loved it. We went to FAL and had to go back. We've done it 3 times now, and have been lucky enough to have seats front and center, where you could even feel the heat from the fire knife finale.

So, if you want to experience a luau, go to OLL, you won't be disappointed. If you've been to one before or if you want something "different", FAL cannot be beat.

Have fun!

Being served is very nice and relaxing! The service is first-class at Feast @ Lele and the food is very, very good. We were very pleased with the Feast @ Lele on all accounts. Aloha~ and enjoy your time on Maui. :)

The Feast at LeLe is a Polynesian Revue, not a luau. Great if that is what you want and are aware of the very eclectic menu. The Old Lahaina Luau is just that, pure Hawaiian. The most traditional luau in the state.

Thinking we may take a taxi rather than drive so we can enjoy ourselves. Is it about a 15 min car ride from the Mahana? Is there any problems getting a taxi after the dinner? and roughly what would be the cost each way?

Thank you!

Aloha,

A cab to/from the Mahana to OLL will run about 25.00 each way. One to/from Feast will be about 30-32 each way.

Both venues will have cabs available or call one for you after it ends.

You could save some money by taking the bus (2.00 per person) down to town and cabbing it back.
