How is the Maui Beach Vacation Club |
|
Has anyone stayed or visited this resort at 515 S. Kihei Road? How is the resort, especially if you're going with a 3 and 6 year old. How is the beach? Any recommendations for family friendly dining nearby? supermarkets nearby? Thanks! |

Stayed there 2 yrs ago. We were pleasantly surprised with it being totally renovated. Rooms are compact, well equipped. Ask for upper floor, the balcony view offers great sunsets as well as night lights. Pool is beautifully lit as well. There were young kids when we were there, appeared to be having great fun. Beach is across the street, long stretch in the bay area of Kihei. Lots of restaurants within short drive as well as lots of beaches. Our favourite is Keanapaku Beach & Big Makena beach.. Buzz's Wharf is one of our favourite restaurants.. Supermarkets just short drive down the street, Star & Foodland, however we preferred Safeway up on the HWY, just short distance. Wherever you shop, get a card from that chain at their customer service department for great discounts. Fresh fruit & veg market just a block up. Found the gas grills very clean & large, conveniently located by pool. Only down side, is this is a timeshare property. We got away with no sales schpeel. All in all, good value, This November we are staying at Maui Kamaole condos in south Kihei. Check out Island Surf condos just down the street. Seem to be great location & great value. Have a wonderful time in paraise!

I've never been in one of the units there, but from Kihei Road they look very small and dark. (I see the previous poster is not staying there a second time, but has moved to a newer condo.)

How was this place? It is one of the places they offered for fly free america. Thanks

We stay here every year, last 6 years and always love it. Can't beat the location for getting to all locations on Maui, units aren't noisy and only thing missing for this city girl is high speed internet but then that's what vacations are for right, kicking back?

Just got back from the MBVC It is a nice place with a nice pool. The ocean "IS NOT FOR CHLDREN" to many rocks and lava. There is nothing walkable either. If you have rented a car you should be fine but as far as fun for cildren we have decided not to take our graqndchildren to MAui because there is really nthing for the little ones to do.

Very pleasant and quiet...The rooms are nice and clean..The pool area is very nice and there is a shady beach area within walking distance. This was my first time there and have decided to purchase there...

We have stayed there several times over the past six years. All stays were good with quiet and comfortable surroundings and an especially nice view from the upper three floors. Last May they were in the midst of thorough renovations to the units. If my memory serves me correctly, they were to have installed high speed internet access from the units in late summer. I was able to find a number of open wi-fi connections from locations on the property the past two years, but generally would visit the moderately priced Ashley's South Shore Restaurant (just off Pilani Hwy) where the food was outstanding and the wi-fi free, at least every two or three days to catch up on internet tasks. If you aren't hungry or Ashley's is closed, the wi-fi range reaches the street and most of the parking lot. Other nice and close-by places to eat include the higher priced Stella Blue's and the less expensive Da Kitchen (at either of their locations). Unfortunately, they don't have wi-fi at these restaurants.

Whoops! I left off the last paragraph of my post. The public beach that is across the road from Maui Beach Vacation Club is not suitable for small children, but less than a half mile away, it is wider and seemed to be populated with quite a few families who were swimming and playing. I would take my grandchildren there without hesitation, but like anywhere near water, keep a close eye on them at all times. Hopefully this is enough information to help you make up your minds.

Owned one of the timeshare units for awhile but sold it. Just be aware that 1) the unit is not air-conditioned (or at least wasn't when we were there), 2) very heavy traffic area and 3) the beach is not suitable at all for children or even adults.

We are staying here the end of June- We just found out that they do not have A/C. Do the rooms stay cool or are they unbearable. Unfortunately we can not change.
