We have stayed at Kamaole Sands twice, once on their very top floor and once on the ground floor. We liked the ground floor, because of the easy access in and out of the condo, no need to haul beach gears or groceries on the stairs or elevators.
I am sure break ins can happen anywhere, but we felt that Maui is safe, and so is the complex. Just about every night, we left bathing suits, towels out drying on the drying rack over night, and we left the boogie boards, snorkels out on the lanai furniture, never had anything taken from our lanai, and we were never concerned about it.
The one best benefit of the top floor was the view, otherwise, we liked the convenience of the ground floor.
Building #5 is in the center of all the buildings, typically has a great open view. Although, for the view, you really want to be higher. Also, building #5 is facing the pool, so being on the ground floor of building #5 you may get pool noise.
