CopaCabana bought by Mt. Olympus

News reports today that the CopaCabana Hotel next to Tommy Bartletts on the strip has been purchased by Mt. Olympus.

Expect all kinds of Mt. O promotional hoopla on the overpass.

Mt. Olympus has purchased a lot of older hotels / motels in the past two years. Guests have grumbled that the pools at those properties have been closed to send everyone down the road to the main Mt. O attractions, and also that Mt. O has been less than clear about just how close your room is to the main attraction. CopaCabana is close to two miles from the Mt. O main gate.

do you have the newslink Elveric (I can google it too)? That's a shame...I have never cared for Mt. Olympus or anything they've done along the way. Copa Cabana was a property better left alone. Thankfully I guess my kids are too old to enjoy it now, but it's a shame as we really enjoyed the place.

That should be it.

I have this suspicion that it will ratchet up the tackiness of the strip considerably.

Also, this puts Noah's Ark "inside" Mt. Olympus territory. Can't imagine that will sit well. There were some local grumblings last summer about how the Native American heritage of the Dells was being usurped by Greeks bearing checkbooks. (Nick Laskaris is the owner of Mt. Olympus.)

Shucks, it sounds like Mt Olympus is gonna own half the strip in The Dells. They bought out Treasure Island a few years ago. When were there we noticed a building that had been recently painted blue and white. I'm gonna assume Mt. Olympus purchased that building. What's next for them...a restaurant? I'm all for expanding a business but.......I'm real curious to see what the strip will look like in 5 years.

How could the Dells get any tackier than it has been for decades?

So sorry to hear that had happened. We enjoyed taking my grandson to the Copacabana the past two Falls...won't be going now. Mt Olympus is ruining the Dells and all the Mom and Pop Motel/Hotels.

That's too bad we liked the old Copacabana too, in fact I was just raving about how fun it used to be staying there when Flake-Out Fest was at Tommy Bartlett's AND they had stuff down on the lake too! Ahhh the good 'ol days. We even ran into Willie Nelson out back in his tour bus once staying there!

This sucks the MT.Olympus has bought out all the hotels/motels on the strip. I just got back from my stay out there and the hotel we were in was the old Luna Inn and Suites. It still said it on the phone. They only reapaint the outside but leave it the way they were when they were bought out. They dont change nothing and its sad to see that. I had wonder why this year

I never had got anything from the CopaCabana. The bird remined me of Tucan Sam. Wow Mount Olympus is one of the worse places to stay. I am so upset for the money we paid that they could be that crappy. But they are going to own that stip in a matter of year and next thing we know they will close out Noahs Ark and make that part of there crappy water park.

I figured that would happen..... it was just a matter of time. I'd like to fast forward and see the strip in another 2 years.

It does stink that they are buying up everything. We just got back from a 2 nite stay at the former Copa cabana.I requested that hotel because i figured they would redo it since they just purchased it.I was quit surprised the roomwas very nice.We stayed at one of there other properties last year and it was dumpy
