My extended family is considering having a family reunion in the Dells next July 2012, but aren't sure where to look for places to stay. We would need cabins, houses, condos (anything with a kitchen in each unit) for 25 couples, 4 singles and 28 kids. Anyone have advice on which resorts might be large enough to accommodate such a large group? Any tips would be appreciated!

You are looking during the busiest time, so it is good that you start early. I would suggest Chula Vista because it has a variety of accommodations and activities and it is probably a little cheaper than some others. However, it is out of town and you need to drive to anything else. If money isnt too much of an issue, the Wilderness has lots of properties to accommodate your needs.

Mt. Olympus Resorts is also another good one to look at. They have some really nice rooms, you get all of the parks with the rooms, your in the middle of town so going anywhere else is really easy, plus you can get a discount for such a large group.
Lots of reviewers are very unhappy with Mt. Olympus as they bought a number of properties and have been not as clear as they might have been on amenities. Check reviews from long term posters before booking Mt. Olympus these days.
Island Pointe Resort is a very nice resort at the quiet end of Lake Delton. They have cabins, condos and a very nice beach area along with an outdoor pool. They also have a clubhouse on the lake which would be nice for group activities, games etc. Lovely setting among stately pines.
You might want to take a look at River's Edge Resort. They do not have a water park (only an outdoor pool) but they have many options for accomodations (cabins, condos, kitchettes, motel units) that might fit your groups' needs. They are all made of logs and feel very "north woodsy". The Resort has a restaurant on premises that is very reasonably priced and open from breakfast till dinner. The resort is a short drive to the major water parks and other Dells attractions. They are located on the river and have canoe trips and boat rentals too. We were just there last weekend and the property next door is being developed into a public park with a river side beach area and boat launch that might be opened by next summer - not sure about that. They have a website that shows the different accomocations with number of bedrooms/bathrooms, etc.
We stayed at the Wilderness Resort in October. It is the largest resort and has many options, including rooms, condos and even some lodges. It has several options you could consider. Also, lots of options for activities during the day for various ages. I also agree with the above posts to be careful about Mt. Olympus. They have spread out properties and amenities vary based on location.
