After booking a 3 queen and bunk for July 27th I started reading these reviews that made me very nerveous. I considered cancelling our reservation and going somewhere else. I called Mt. Olympus and was told that I was scheduled for building 10 and not the white and blue building. I was still very concerned so I personally viewed building 10 on Sunday, July 22nd around 1:00 pm.
I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the rooms and the helpfulness of the cleaning staff. I was even more impressed with the smell of bleach coming from the rooms the staff were cleaning. One of the staff cleaning showed me a room with 3 queens and a bunk, it was beautiful, clean and I love that there is no carpeting. The lobby is very nice with a lounge area that includes a pool table and fireplace. The arcade was nice, clean and I noticed it was staffed with an employee overseeing the arcade. This looks like a good spot to go to once the waterpark is closed. The staff did explain that the property was purchased recently, and major changes had been made in the last few months. They also indicated new upgraded mattresses had been order and within the next few months, they would all be switched out. They also explained how to find your room in the 4 floor building. I was very relieved and very greatful for the kindness I found when arriving unannounced.
I am traveling with 5 grandchildren and was very concerned about rooms due to allergies and asthma. I will post another review once we have experienced the waterpark and hotel.
I understand concerns as the other hotels I viewed in the blue and white building did look a little tacky, but they were clean. Right now I am of the option that you get what you pay for, but I will see if that still holds after the weekend.
As a side note, looking for a restaurant that doesn't have MSG or sodium nitrate was a little frustrating. I checked with Pizza Pub, and they were not cooperative at all. The manager was not willing to check any ingredients if we were not dining. Pizza Pub only has a buffet for lunch, for supper you must order off menu. They had no idea if MSG was in there pizza sauce or pasta sauce. I also checked the Pancake restaurant, and they had no clue what I was talking about. I than went to Pizza Ranch, and was delighted when the manager understood my concerns, offered to wash the lettuce if necessary, brought out the jugs of dressing to check ingredients, and willing to make special pizza with no sausage, and no MSG in pizza sauce. So looks like we will be eating at Pizza Ranch!!!!!!! Home made mashed potatoes and lots of fresh fruit and veggies on the buffet.
Very Fussy Grandma!
