Wondering how widely available wi-fi is at accommodations on Washington Island..I'm a regular blogger but would rather not bring my laptop if I can't get access.
there is a small store that has it and coffee shop attached to the bp gas station and that's about it. The one in the gas station has puters if you need them that bad, but if you don't then don't bother. Also, please dont stay in the loft cottage at dor cros inn....ants galore and the smell of dead animals as well as mold and mildew....I got really, really sick and we were there for a day. I didnt want to even sleep on the bed....I didnt sit on the furniture at all!
PS not much to do on the island..you can see it all in 2 days tops and this is at a leisurely pace! But it is beautiful...make sure you head out to the Jameson museum, very neat, unique and OLD artifacts and it's free. Donation only. Make sure you eat at bread and water. We ate dinner there and it wasn't to expensive. The desserts are marvelous! They even have a piano player on certain nights. (We went in around 6:30) Baby billygoats behind the norway house next to Mann's Hardware. Probably a couple weeks old. (we just got back on the 19th). We also found a gravel road....can't remember the name of it though...it was just past the stop sign down detroit harbor road. If you go back in there is a marina and to the left a bay that appears untouched. Very large glacial rocks there for you to climb on in the lake not to far from shore. Go to sand beach to sunbathe and not swim. Go to schoolhouse beach for swimming and a bumpy sunbathing experience.
Wi-fi is not widely available on the Island
Wi-Fi is available at the library on Main Rd. Can also be accessed from the parking lot if the library is closed. The little cafe next to the BP gas station is no more :(.
WA island is great, and we have found internet there, but it is hard to come by. Are you going to Rock Island? Don't miss Schoolhouse beach either, it is the best beach I have ever been to.
