Vacation rentals in Milwaukee

We just returned from another great trip to Milwaukee. We are planning to return again next year. We've stayed the last 2 years at County Clare. Unfortunately they are already booked for next year. I am looking at renting a condo. Has anyone ever dealt with airbnb.com? I have found what seems to be a very nice condo that fits our needs perfectly but I have read very mixed reviews on airbnb.com. I've rented many times with vrbo.com, flipkey and homeaway but airbnb is a new one to me.

Any help or insight would be greatly appreciated.

There is a bargain travel forum on trip advisor and there has been a long running discussion of airbnb. This may confuse more than it helps as people have widely divergent opinions, lol. This forum receives input from people all around the world. Here is the link.

I have always used vrbo.com and never had any problems. Unfortunately I don't have any insight on airbnb. Maybe revise your topic and ask instead about airbnb in particular? You might get more reponses that way. If you want to privately message me about the exact condo you are looking at, perhaps I could give more insight (area, building, atmosphere, etc.)? I am a lifelong Milwaukee area resident.

Good luck!

Just thought of this, but you might want to take a look at the Knickerbocker. http://www.knickerbockeronthelake.com/

also try the Residence Inn downtown. Very condo-like rooms, right on the river. Or Sheridan's - which is similar to County Clare, but south of downtown Milwaukee in a community called Cudahy.

Thanks for all of the input.

Looking into the hotel suggestions. Just can't seem to find many rentals except for the airbnb.com site. We've stayed at Residence Inn and a couple other hotels. We were just looking for something a little different this time.

Thanks again.

I just got back from Milwaukee yesterday after a week at an AirBnB house in Bay View for a family wedding. This is the second time I've used AirBnB (Chicago in March). Both times have been absolutely great. The Bay View house was convenient, adorable and a great size for my family. The hosts were wonderful, the place clean and easy to get to, I've got honestly nothing bad to say about the experience at all.

I do really read the reviews on AirBnB, though, and would suggest you do as well. Maybe I've just been lucky, but I have felt like they do due diligence on the properties and owners.

Thank you for posting your experience. We have booked the condo through airbnb. Our stay isn't until next July so hopefully we have the same positive experience as you.

Thanks again.
