Just returned from both Mountaineer and Wheeling Island. Which is best?
It isn't because I didn't win because I won $300 on the Frog and the Princess machine...once I got on it.
There are not enough penny machines at Mountaineer. That was my biggest gripe. People will knock you down to beat you to any open penny machine seat. The place is dark and they allow people to take food to their machines which is disgusting. I saw someone dump their uneaten hotdog right on the machine. Ugh!
My other gripe is that the smokers have the best machines. It really isn't fair. It's like smokers are treated better than non. We have to breathe their residue if we want to enjoy the best machines.
The place is like a maze to traverse... the parking is terrible and it took us an hour to get across the tiny little bridge to get to the casino on a Friday Night. (Maybe because Clint Black was there.)
I like the music... they had some singers that were good.
Didn't win as much there but did win some. At least it kept us going. We spent $125. each and played for 5 hours. The place is clean, well laid out and they have PLENTY of penny machines. Didn't have to wait to get on one. I liked the variety of machines and the light. The smoke didn't bother me as much there so they must ventilate better. Parking was easy, it was easy to get to and we will definiately return.
My only complaint is again, the smokers are the lucky ones with the best machines. Why are smokers so favored by casinos? Why not have a smokers room with the same dumb machines they give the non smokers. Why should we be segregated? We aren't the ones with the dirty habit. We aren't causing others to be sick and smelly.
My favorite casinos are in Canada where there is NO SMOKING! No reason I should have to get a sore throat, red eyes and smelly clothes enjoying my favorite hobby: slots.
(By the way, the think non smokers out number the smokers too!) Having no smoking in Canada has not hurt their business at all. I have asthma and the smoke really does make me sick.
