I have driven part of US-219 and it was a good road, I would imagine that is probably your best bet after the interstates...

Yes, the I-64 to Lewisburg to Rt. 219 is the best and quickest way. But another way is to stay on I-64 a few more miles to White Sulphur Springs and get on Rt. 92, ( which is not as curvy as the first part of 219 and a lot more scenic) then take 39 to Marlinton and get on 219 there toward Snowshoe. It might take a bit longer, but like I said it is not as curvy or hilly, and more scenic with rolling hills and farm land. Very pretty! You will still have the curves on that last part of 219, that is unavoidable.

If you look at the above map that Mike E posted, then zoom in you will see the Rt. 92 and 39 roads.
