Driving tips from Washington DC to Charleston WV

Considering road trip in mid June from Washington DC through Blue Ridge Mountains to Charleston...Can this be done in one day? Any tips on where to stop, what to see, or where to eat? I'm a photographer and always looking for something special, unique or cool. Never been in this area. Thanks.

About a 6 hour drive. Interstate all the way. Easy. Beautiful. Scenic. Stop in White Sulpher Springs at the Greenbrier Resort and take a stroll around the grounds and in the hotel. Then go up the road about 10 miles to Lewisburg, walk along Washington St....in and out of all the neat shops and galleries. Lunch or dinner there too. Anywhere is good. About 40 minutes up Rt. 219 is Beartown St. Park. Basically just a long boardwalk thru this park, but it is beautiful, rock formations and all. Maybe stop at Grandview National Park just off I-64 as you head to Beckley..lovely place with impressive overlook there. Few more miles (10) on to Beckley is Tamarack. Large arts and crafts and restaurant and art gallery place. Great food in the food court there. 25 minutes to the north on Rt. 19 is Fayetteville, WV and the New River Gorge Bridge. A Must!! Go to the Visitors Center and walk to the overlook. Gorgeous!!

Hope this helps! Have fun!
