Trip to Charleston, WV

I am planning a trip to Charleston, WV with my parents this summer, was wondering how much time to allow to take in the sights and and do some shopping...2-3 days or longer? Any recommendations on what definitely to see and where to eat? Thank you!

You do mean Charleston, West Virginia, right?? (and not South Carolina?)

You could check out a baseball game.Minor League... West Virginia Power...lots of fun!

Might be a concert or show at the Clay Center. Good place to spend an hour anyway...science museum.

Hotels, consider Marriott or Embassy Suites, both right across the street from Town Center Mall....lots of shopping and resturants there.Hope this helps.

You have to check out the Town Center for shopping, but also Capitol (Capital?) Street for a nice array of restaurants and stores. Pies and Pints located on Capitol Street is my favorite restaurant in Charleston, second to none! You HAVE to eat their pizza. They sell excellent pizzas (Pies) and have local and crafty beer (Pints).

Although Pies and Pints has FANTASTIC pizza and beer, Lola's on Bridge Rd has a better atmosphere and amazing sangria. Blue Grass Kitchen is also very good..

Next to PIes and Pints is the Adelphia Grille....nice sports bar with very good Greek fare.

I think 2 days in Charleston will suffice. Don't miss our beautiful State Capitol building, one of the prettiest in the country. The State Museum is also on the Capitol Complex.

I second staying at either the Marriott or Embassy Suites to be centrally located. Another option is the Downtown Ramada Inn on Kanawha Boulevard. It is centrally located to Capitol Street, although I believe is undergoing renovations.
