Hollywood Casino

Would love a first hand report on the table games. W. Va is lots closer than AC!

Thanks for that update. I had a freind who was at Charles Town opening weekend and he said he saw the game too (but I figured he confused the regular poker rooms). I hope your right, I though I looked everywhere, but didn't see it (but it was very busy in that area so I hope I missed it). I usually play $15 on that game and go up to $25 when I win a hand and then back to $15 when I loss, so I can deal with $25 there.

I agree with you on craps, it is not playable unless $10 or less. Just to many moving parts, but I do love that Hard Four!

Thanks, I so hope your correct.

Thanks again. I went yesterday and my table game Texas Hold 'Em Bonus game was indeed there. I missed it that Saturday night because that area was so crowded and the didn't have a high sign like they do for three card poker and the like. Thanks so much, I am so happy. Now if we can get that min down to $15 from $25, that would be perfect.

Glad you found the hold em bonus table. I think they only have 1 of these tables in the whole joint. I actually got the marketing manager for hollywood on the phone (who would think they would connect me to him?). Anyway he told me they are probably going to keep the table games at the $25 and $50 min limits until demand slow downs. He expressed that he is even quite surprise that they are getting action at the higher limits, even in early morning and weekday afternoon. However, he said he has seen the 3 and 4 card poker come down to $15 min. on rare occasions, however the 3 biggies (blackjack, craps, roulette) continue to get alot of action at the $25+ level. I did ask why if the tables are packed at the $25 level, why not at least open some more tables, so folks do not have to stand around. He said it is still a labor issue. I still do not understand why it would not kill hollywood to at least open 1- $5 or $10 table, at all times for blackjack, craps, roulette. At least it would keep the low rollers somewhat happy, Someday they will need the $5 or $10 player. I guess the good thing is the 25% tax hollywood pays on the gross is generating alot of money for the state of WVA and the horseman.

I have been waiting for Hollywood to open for months and the high minimums are disheartening. I imagine they will eventually come down, but I refuse to play blackjack higher than $15 a hand. It's just too rich for my blood. So I won't be going until I hear that the whole operation is running more smooth and the minimums have come down.

As for the crowds, will they ever *really* go down? Hollywood is the only casino in the mid-Atlantic region and is an hour from DC. Lots of money in the area.

I'll be surprised if the minimums ever go down for long.

Wow I wanted to go tomorrow. But I can't afford to lose money like that. I usually take 200-300 and that will last me at least a good day or two of gambling, a few bad hands at that rate and I'd be done. That and having a panic attack, guess I won't be going there tomorrow! Thanks for the update!

I've divided my time betwen Charlestown and AC for a few years.

Waited for the tables. Agree with most of the comments re: high

minimums, inappropriate behavior and lack of tables as being advertised. Another major disappoint is the near lack of comps over the tast few months and diminishing slot payouts. Wife and I have decided to cross Charlestown off our list and make monthly trips to AC with comped rooms , food and table minimums 1/4 those at CTown. We are 1 hour to Charlestown and 3.5 to AC. AC needn't worry.

"Fame and Fortune at the Hollywood Casino", what marketing genius created that blurb?

Agree, as a long time visitor and too frequent, one gets the impression that

GREED is the name of the game at the new Hollywood Casino. Not that

anything has changed at all from CTRS. We'll see how long this last!

Went to CTown for the first time today just to check it out. Was there around 3 pm. The casino was very busy and about 60 of the table games were open. This was the breakdown as I noted (nine tables in the "high limit" area included):

Blackjack (27): 13 $25, 9 $50, 5 $100

Craps (4): all $25

Roulette (8): 4 $15, 4 $25

Mini Bac (6): 2 $25, 3 $50, 1 $100

Pai Gow (4): all $25

Let It Ride (1): $15

Texas Hold Em Bonus (1): $25

3 Card Poker (4): all $25

4 Card Poker (3): all $25

Big Six (1): $10

In addition, I noted 13 blackjack, 2 craps, 1 mini bac, and 1 roulette table not in service. Ten of these tables were in their own separate area.

I was there yesterday. Not too many people. Took two hours for a cocktail server to ge t to the poker tables. $25 min bets at all table games...ridiculous. Everyone was complaining. No one seemed to be having fun. I guess because the minimums were too high. The dealers were complaining that with such high minimums bets they were not getting any tips. I will never go back.

Thanks for the recent update. I too was considering going back to Hollywood later this week, in search of $10 craps. I guess I will have to wait until the fall, or winter for lower limits.

Thanks for saving me the trip.
