I live nearby and have not stayed at any of the motels in town, so can only provide an exterior perspective. There are several motels near the track and most are filled every warm weather weekend. The Holiday Inn Express is the newest motel in the area (opened 2007) and the only one with all rooms having interior corridors. Turf motel is closest to the races & slots. One building has been remodeled and has interior corridors; other parts of the motel are exterior basic two story motel. There are three other motels in town: Townhouse, Knights something, and one near Wal-Mart. Each of these has exterior corridors. If you are looking for charm and touring the area as well there are several B&Bs in the downtown area. Good luck!

While visiting my sister in October 2006, we stayed at the Turf-the newly remodled part. We were very comfortable and really enjoyed the room. Nice flat screen TV on the wall and jacuzzi jets in the tub!

That's good to know cuz people are always asking where to stay in that area.
