Thanksgiving in Bellingham

We have from 10AM to 3PM to find something to do in Bellingham, WA on Thanksgiving Day. Any suggestions? Are there any 1-3 hour afternoon cruises of the harbor available?

You could drive down to Larrabee State Park on the Chuckanut Drive and go for a walk. It is beautiful.

The Lummi Island ferry operates 365 days a year. I always thought that was passenger only, but the fare schedule shows cars. There is a spa where you can get a massage at the Willows Inn on the island, but there's a strong chance they'd be closed for the holiday. The chef at the restaurant there is internationally famous, so maybe stop by for a light snack if anything like that is offered.

The cruise/whale watching boat I looked at doesn't operate in winter, hence, not in November. Here's a page about other operators out of the Bellingham Cruise Terminal. bellingham-subdued-excitement.com/bellingham…

Afraid we are pretty quiet here on Thanksgiving day except for the mobs of Canadian shoppers descending on the major stores along Meridian in the north area of town. The historic district in Fairhaven, south of downtown, is nice to walk around but I do not know what, if anything, may be open that day. You don't quite have enough time to drive up to Mount Baker.

Weather will be difficult to predict. November is most often gray and rainy but occasionally we do get snow in November.

I second Fairhaven. If the weather is decent, you can walk along the walkway from Fairhaven to Boulevard Park or walk down to Marine Park. Tony's may be open for coffee if not there is a little grocery store to pick up something warm to drink.

The harbor tours end of season is Sept. so unless there is a special one on Thanksgiving day w/ buffet that option isn't available.

If the weather isn't in your favor - check out the Pickford to see if there is a movie or two you would like (aim for one in theatre 1 - you can take your beer or wine into that theatre).

The other option I thought of, if it would interest you at all, is that the Silver Reef Casino would probably be open and it is not too far from the airport.
