Whale Watching

Can anyone recommend a whale watching trip out of Bellingham. I'll be there in early august and would like to do a day trip. Can you recommend the tour companies name and where else I can look for a schedule.

I thank you all in advance for your assistance.

1. Re: Whale Watching

As a start, Sally, Google this: "whale watching, WA"

I'll take a look, also, unless someone comes up with your answer.

Hi Voyaging,

Did that but that bring out too many. I'm looking for whale watching tours specifically out of Bellingham. Thanks for the tip.

Best,

Try this, instead: "Whale Watching, Bellingham, WA"

Many charters "guarantee" a sighting. The guarantee is good for another trip, typically, not for money back.

You can inquire regarding their sighting success when you arrive. Orcas are not that predictable.

Hi,

Victoria San Juan Cruises is great for a day trip or an overnight:

http://www.whales.com/

The dinner add on isn't supper fancy, but it is good and worth the price. They are in contact with the local fishing boats so that is there is a pod in the area they'll go to check them out. Bonus, the boat is small so they can get in fairly close without bothering the pod. Everyone is laid back in that Bellinghamster way, but the Captain is very good. We took my SO's Mom on a day trip for Mother's Day - she doesn't even like boats (which we didn't know until afterwards) and she had a great time.

This is the company most locals take their visitor's on (or to be more honest, wait for the excuse of having visitors to take the cruise).

Thank you PacificNWAuntiem for your recommendation. I'll give them a call. I saw that they were on the Bellingham Chamber of Commerce website. I feel more comfortable going with personal recommendation when there's so many choices and companies out there. Thank you again.

No worries - have fun!

Also, if you are going to be here on a weekend you might want to check out the outdoor cinema:

fairhaven.com/content/2008_fairhaven_outdoor…

The cruise departs from Fairhaven so you could wander over there afterwards (makes for a long day, but hey, it is light out until 10pm around here anyways).

Hi Sally!

The <a href="http://www.schoonerzodiak.com">Schooner Zodiak</a> and <a href="http://www.gatoverde.com">Gato Verde</a> and <a href="http://www.orcawatch.com">Orca Watch</a> all offer trips out of Bellingham.

Happy sailing!
