Eating Establishments

Hello ! I will be travelling to Bellingham with my sister August 27, 2007. This is a special sister-get-a-way. We are there for a spa retreat and would like some input on where to eat. I would like some places with waterfront views, we love quaint and unique establishments. I would like to stay away from the chain restraunts, and prefer family owned places. We are looking for breakfast, lunch, and dinner places. Thanks for your help.

You might like the Cliff House, not a chain restaurant and is known for fine dining and a great view.

If you take a drive along Chuckanut Drive, which is a great drive itself, there is the Oyster Bar. That one is family owned.

Also along Chuckanut Drive is the Oyster Creek Inn.

There are a few others along Chuckanut, here is a list with links to websites: www.chuckanutdrive.com/merchants/food.html

Another good one is Anthony's, which is a chain restaurant, but right on the water and is also very good and nicely decorated on the inside.

Finally, here is a good site that lists a lot of Bellingham Restuarants.

If you are doing the spa at the Crystalis - there is Stanello's in Fairhaven (within walking distance). Italian / pizza - bonus on Mon and Tues they have a $10 bottle of wine list that is pretty decent. They have a deck, not so much a view.

There is Bayside for lunch (down by the harbor - then you can take a nice little walk along the sidewalk and look at the harbor and end up at Marine park).Or Colophon Cafe (Fairhaven) has yummy soups and sandwiches - and a wicked carrot cake.

Back in Fairhaven, Skylarks for breakfast is excellent or eat where the locals do and go to the Little Cheerful (downtown).

If you want to gain back every calorie you lost by walking around town - book Guiseppe's for dinner (downtown) spendy but excellent Italian.
