We just got back from our weekend in Seattle. Spent one day doing Seattle with my dad before we put him on his cruise ship. Spent the next day seeing Bainbridge. We drove around from Seattle through Bremerton and our first stop was at the Tourist Info Center/Some kind of city bureau office? The lady there was so friendly and helpful, as well as the lady who followed us outside to see if there was anything else we would like to know about "our island"- how sweet. Turned out she was just a taste of "your island's" wonderful hospitality. We spent most of the morning at Bloedel Reserve. How beautiful! It was so serene and very different-but good-from what we had expected. I would love to go back! After that we drove into town for some lunch. Had read about Madoka and wanted to eat there, but they were closed. We passed on the chinese restaurant at the mall Teriyaki something a little different. We ended up at Doc's Marina Grill (I think it was called) ended up sitting out back and having a local beer and a bowl of chowder watching the boats bob in the marina. The weather was gorgeous, plenty of sunshine, perfectly wonderful setting. We took the ferry back to the city! That was our 2nd trip on a Washington State Ferry and it is such a treat for those of us who are landlocked. On the way back to Seattle we passed my dad's cruise ship heading out. All in all we had a great weekend. Seattle and surrounding area was all we had remembered from our trip about 14 years ago and more.
