I'm on crutches and hope to do mostly walking, but was wondering if it's permitted to use a golf cart (or similar powered vehicle) along the boardwalk in case I get tired?

I'm sure there are wheelchairs, but I was hoping to dodge that option and use something that both my husband and small child can ride along in too.

Are you bringing a golf cart with you? I just read the city code, and it looks like golf carts are restricted in the resort area. However, in the off-season, who knows. There are surreys for rent, but again, if that is a seasonal thing, then they might not be available to you.

I've seen motorized wheel chairs/scooter type things for people with a handicap, broken leg, etc. I wonder if by 'there are wheelchairs' you mean to rent. You'd think there would be but I don't know personally....other than googling or calling which would be better for you to do since you know your needs and where you're staying. Let us know how you make out.

I should say there are some nice facilities for people in wheelchairs, like the fact that the boardwalk is concrete and not rickety boards (although that's romantic too). Also the extensions out into the sand toward the water than make maneuvering in the sand easier...and the ramps down to them from the boardwalk. The locations of these ramps and extensions are mentioned in one of the articles here. Let us know if you don't see it and I'll see if I can locate it.
