Blue Ridge Touring ???

We're planning a trip to tour the Blue Ridge Parkway on our motorcycle. We will be driving with our motorcycle in a trailer, staying at some B&B's along the way and taking day trips along the Blue Ridge Parkway via motorcycle. This trip, we are focusing on the stretch between Valle Cruis, NC and hopefully to MP 0 at the start of the parkway. We would like to tour leisurely and stop along the way.

We would appreciate some helpful tips of what to see (non-touristy stuff) along the way. Our itinerary so far is:

Saturday - drive from Florida to The Mast Farm Inn in Valle Cruis, NC (approx. at MP 290)

Sunday -- motorcycle day tour of the Blue Ridge from Valle Cruis north (hopefully to Woolwine, VA at MP 170)

Monday -- drive to Woolwine, VA to The Moutain Rose Inn B&B (along the way tour some winery's or any other suggestions?)

Tuesday -- motorcycle day tour on Parkway from Woolwine, VA to Peaks of Otter at MP 80

Wednesday -- drive to Steeles Tavern, VA to the Sugar Tree Inn B&B (suggestions for tours, etc. along the way?)

Thurday -- motorcycle touring on Blue Ridge from Steeles Tavern SOUTH to Peaks of Otter and then from Steeles Tavern NORTH to MP 0

Friday -- long drive back to Florida.

I welcome any suggestions on how this itineray might work, things (non-touristy) to see/do along the way. We like touring wineries and hiking and seeing the beauty of nature.

Thanks!

Sounds like a blast! I'd like to suggest a visit to Chateau Morrisette Winery at MP 171.5. Tasting is $5.00 for the complete list or free if you only sample a few. http://www.chateaumorrisette.com/

Though I've never toured the winery, I love AmRhein wines. They're located just off the parkway south of Salem. http://www.amrheinwine.com/

Just off of MP 120 is Mill Mountain Park. It's a good place to stretch and check out a great view of the Roanoke Valley from the Mill Mountain Star.

The parkway between Roanoke and Peaks of Otter has some of the most amazing views. My husband & I ride this section regularly and prefer the views around sunset. Be sure to bring your camera!

Safe journey!

If you haven't gone yet -- things to do around Steeles Tavern:

Drive to Raphine and see the Herb Farm, take the hike across the road from the Herb Farm to see the waterfall, Wades Mill and there is also a winery, all in a very close proximity.
