AIRPORT to use for trip starts in Napa and ending Moss Beach

Hi there,

Coming in Sept for trip starting in Napa, Sonoma, Monterey, Paso Robles and ending in Moss Beach. Just wondering which airport would be best for arrival on a Fri afternoon and departure on Sat early afternoon. Would the route from Moss Beach to Sacramento on a Sat late morning be too busy to get back to Sacramento airport? or should we go into SFO airport? or Oakland?

Looks like Sacramento is way less busy of a place, but just wondering what the traffic is like to get back there from Moss Beach on a Saturday.

Thanks

Richmond, Virginia

I would opt for SFO first, as it almost certainly provides the most options, with Oakland second. On the whole, I try to not have long drives through metro areas when trying to make a flight connection.

You might price out an "open jaw" flight ... into Sacto and out of SFO. The drive from Moss Beach to SFO is quite short. Moss Beach to Sacto is close to 2 hours and requires going through SF and crossing the Bay Bridge, which can be a bottleneck.

If that doesn't work out I'd round trip through SFO.

The Open Jaw is best. The only issue with open jaw is that your car rental cost may go up and at times Open Jaws can be more expensive than round trips --not in all cases and not with airlines like Southwest Airlines

Some car rentals may not have the dropoff fee so you may want to do some research

to tell you the truth i've never even heard the term "open jaw" before, but i did think of doing just that...

i'm thinking that if we get into SFO early enough from Detroit we can do SFO arrival and departure and solve the car rental possible dilemma...

since Napa is so close to SFO not worried about getting there on arrival, just wanted to avoid the Fri traffic over the Bridge..i've heard rush hour starts at 3ish..
