Publico from Fajardo to San Juan

Not sure if there are "publicos" in Puerto Rico but...... Is it possible to catch the ferry from Culebra and then take a publico to San Juan? How long should we plan for the whole trip? Is it better to catch the first ferry or are there trips to San Juan throughout the day?

When the ferry arrives in Farjado there will be lots of taxis there going to SJ. It will cost about $60 and take about an hour.

The ferry schedule is here islaculebra.com/puerto-rico/culebra-ferry-sc…

What are the other (cheaper) options and their time frames? Thanks.

"What are the other (cheaper) options?"

Renting a car is the only available option other than taxis.

PD: Publicos do exist in PR, however they do not provide service outside the town/city they work for.

You can take a guagua publica from the docks to the plaza de Fajardo (the downtown), and then take another to Rio Piedras, San Juan. Once u get to Rio Piedras u can catch buses and/or a train to get to your destination throughout the metro area. It'll be like 10 bucks total.

fortyguy, You may get a "publico" at the Public Cars Terminal (TEL. 787-860-1820) which is located at the Garrido Morales St, in front of the police station in Fajardo. There are public cars with the fixed route Fajardo-San Juan , Fajardo Rio Piedras, among others. The trip to San Juan will take more than 2+ hours, since between terminals they stop frequently along their route to pick and leave passengers. Another thing to take into consideration is that they have no place for no big bags or luggage, and that in orther to leave the terminal, they wait until they have at least 5 passengers (to make the trip cost effective), which can take little or a LOT of extra waiting time.
