My family and I are trying to debate if we should rent a RV or use our Jeep to drive from Maine to Newfoundland, we will go through New Brunswick to Nova Scotia. Then take a ferry either to Port Aux, drive all the way in Newfoundland and then to Fortune where we take a ferry to St. Pierres to stay for a few days and then drive to St. Johns and take a ferry from Argenia to Nova Scotia. Upon arriving to Nova Scotia, we would like to go to Halifax and then drive all the way back to Maine back home to Maryland.
My question is if this road trip sounds a lot of driving, we have two kids (9 year old and a13 year old boy) so we don't know if they would be happy in driving long ways or not. If we wanted to rent a RV, it is very pricey because of the ferry costs.
What do you recommend? Do you recommend this road trip? How many days? 14 days or 21 days? Is it easy to get a motel or hotel or BB on the way or do we have to reserve in advance because sometimes if we see something that we are interested, we can stop and look around lesiurely instead of rushing to point a to point b to get to the hotel that is reserved for us.
Any advice, suggestions or whatever would be greatly appreciated!! thanks!
