I just returned from a trip to Cadaques and it was absolutely breathtaking!!!!
I"m writing in this Forum to help people with their decision...and if you have any questions...
For those who have not been, or are thinking of going, this is a definite must!!! I've traveled all around Spain and have to say this was one of the best and very different places I have been to in Spain. It is very small and cute , it reminded me of Mykonos (but smaller). All the buildings are white and blue...everything is walking distance so it really doesn't matter where you stay.
Some basic Info.
-Buses are not that regular so make sure you plan accordingly
-it takes about 1 hour from Figures, 2 hours from Girona, 15 Min from Roses, 1.5 hour from Tossa de Mar
-There aren't any sandy beaches..just a few small coves around which are really nice (but can get very busy so get a spot early)
-The Dali Museum(Portlligat)-you need to book in advance (we did not know this and we walked there from the center (which is a bit of a walk)...we went on Wednesday morning and once we got there we were told it was all sold out until Friday.
-then from the train we took a bus to Lloret (which we saw briefly and decided not to stay because it was very touristy and loud-lots of teens getting drunk and annoying) we moved on from there to Tossa de Mar (which was beautiful)...this is also a recommended visit. From Tossa we took the bus to Cadaques (which there are only 2 direct buses a day (8:30am or 5:30pm) (this took about an hour and a half).
We booked an apartment from www.cadaquesapartments.com
-we booked a day before and considering it was very last minute, they were very nice and quick to respond...we stayed in the Nordstroem apt which was fabulous!!!!
Hope this helps!!!
