A procession of small boats sailed across from nearby Procida to Ischia yesterday - decked with banners calling for an immediate release for two of that tiny island's sailors, captured by Somali 'pirates' in the crew of tanker “Savina Caylyn” back in February and held hostage since then.

Although not specifically aimed at interfering with the passage of ferries and hydrofoils to and from Naples and Pozzuoli, the long crocodiles of boats in this and other recent demonstrations have inevitably caused a few reroutings and delays.
It might be wise therefore to allow extra time - and perhaps catch an earlier crossing if you've a deadline to meet - over and above whatever you've already reckoned on, with this being Ferragosto week!
