Is it worth doing the meal plan at the Homestead?

Is it worth doing the meal plan (breakfast and/or dinner) for two adults at the Homestead -we'll only be there for two nights so will eat all meals at the resort.

thanks!

So you'll eat all meals there but want to know if the meal plan is a good idea?

Which restaurants are they including in the meal plan now?

Sometimes they switch restaurants which is disappointing. The Main Dining Room is lovely, the Commonwealth Room is nice but the main dining room is better if the meal is in there.

Sam Snead's is 'off campus' but part of the Homestead. Our food is always delicious.

But you might want to catch something at Rubino's...I don't think that would be on the plan.

We discovered that if you are kicking back and relaxing two meals is a good amount of food here. Breakfasts are vast and last till dinner. (At first we tried three meals and it was way too much.) And if you need something to tide you over catch Martha's Market beside the beautiful Washington Library. The Market is open shorter hours and during the day. Sort of cafe style with sandwiches, coffee, pastries. I hope in the renovations they kept the Market's antique screen door that opened out to the veranda. We like taking our items out there is it's nice out...if it's cold we eat by the fireplace.

So...if you really have doubts about the usefulness of the meal plan, go for dinner but be sure it's in the Main Dining room and catch a brunchy salad and sandwich at Martha's or Casino Club outdoor dining or Rubino's at the golf course. Would that suit?

PS In saying: "Sam Snead's is 'off campus' but part of the Homestead. Our food is always delicious." I omitted the word "there"...our food there is always delicious.

We greatly enjoy our times at the Homestead and are looking forward to returning soon.
