Places to go swimming

My daughter is spending 10 weeks at GMU this summer and is looking for a pond or lake that has a beach/swimming area.

Alternatively an outdoor poor- public, private, or hotel- that allows day passes or single use visits.

Thanks very much!

Here's a link to information about Fairfax County's public pools that might be useful.

And here's info about Virginia State Parks within Fairfax County, some of which have lakes. But they may not all allow swimming in the lakes. northernvirginiamag.com/guides/…

Also be aware that Fairfax County is quite large, so some of these pools and parks may be at some distance from GMU.

There are swimming facilities at GMU as well. If she's staying for a number of weeks then she might be able to avail herself of them, check with the people that are hosting her.

And any fairfax county rec center that has a pool allows day use. The closest to GMU is probably Oak Marr rec center which she can get to via the CUE bus (runs from the GMU Campus to the Vienna Metro station).

Thanks so much Longhorn and Canaanm!

GMU does have a wonderful aquatic center, I hear. Will have her check out your links.

Certainly is a beautiful state!
